Harmonic Drive SE announces change in the Supervisory Board

Harmonic Drive SE announces that as of 1 January 2025, there has been a change in the Supervisory Board. The Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr Gottfried Bertram, and the Supervisory Board member Mr Mitsumasa Ito have resigned from their respective positions. The new member of the Supervisory Board is to be Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner, who has taken over as Chairman.

Thanks to the departing members

Harmonic Drive SE would like to thank Mr Gottfried Bertram for his active support of the Management Board, especially after the takeover of the majority of shares in Harmonic Drive SE, Germany by Harmonic Drive Systems Inc, Japan. His valuable input on product development in the field of mechatronics has contributed to the company's new strategic direction.

Mr Mitsumasa Ito, who as co-founder of Harmonic Drive SE and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harmonic Drive Systems Inc., Japan, played a central role for decades, has made a decisive contribution to the international orientation and cooperation between the companies in Japan and Germany. Harmonic Drive SE expresses the highest appreciation to Mr Ito for his longstanding and formative support.

 

Appointment of the Supervisory Board

With Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner, Harmonic Drive SE has gained an outstanding personality with extensive experience and expertise.

 

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner has extensive knowledge of the aerospace industry. As former Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), he has in-depth insights into innovative technologies and international cooperation. His academic career began with a degree in civil engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he later completed his doctorate. His in-depth knowledge and experience in science and industry are of particular importance for the strategic development of Harmonic Drive SE.

 

The Management Board welcomes Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner to the Supervisory Board and wishes him every success in his new role.
